Chills will run up your spine as you listen to radio’s ultimate horror series. Lights Out delivered shocking scripts and terrifying sound effects like no other show on the airwaves. Listeners could count on hearing bones being snapped, bodies being electrocuted, or human flesh being devoured. The infamous Arch Oboler wrote and directed many of the shows, including Burial Services, Cat Wife, Revolt of the Worms and Chicken Heart. In fact, he hosted the show for a time and occasionally performed acting duties. Another big name associated with the show is Boris Karloff, a frequent guest star. As Oboler would say at the beginning of the program, “It is later than you think. This is the witching hour! It is the hour when dogs howl and evil is let loose on the sleeping world. Want to hear about it? Then turn out your lights!” Originally Performed on 12/29/1942 w/ Dinah Shore and Gloria Blondell
